How we test, review and update everything on this site
Nail Glow Lab is a small independent editorial team in the United States. Here is exactly how our guides are built, reviewed and corrected — and what we refuse to recommend.
Our review process
- Source before we write. Every claim about nail biology — growth rates, plate structure, recovery times — is checked against dermatology and podiatry literature and against the published consensus of cosmetic chemists, not against other blogs.
- Test in real conditions. Routines, files, oils and at-home techniques are used for a minimum of four weeks before we describe how they behave, because one manicure tells you nothing about a product.
- Editorial review. A second team member reviews the finished guide for accuracy, safety language and anything that overpromises.
- Update on a schedule. Trend pieces are revisited each season; evergreen guides are re-checked at least twice a year. The “Last updated” date on each article is the real review date, not a republishing trick.
What we will not do
- Claim any product makes nails grow faster than biology allows — nothing does.
- Recommend cutting the eponychium, metal cuticle nippers on yourself, or peeling gel off.
- Diagnose. Discolouration, lifting, pain or a nail that changes shape belongs with a dermatologist or podiatrist, and we say so every time.
- Publish a paid placement as if it were a recommendation. Affiliate links are disclosed on every page that carries them — see our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
If you find something wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change. Write to us through the contact page or send a question to our Ask Nail Glow Lab desk — corrections are handled first, before new questions.
Medical disclaimer
Everything here is educational content about cosmetic nail care. It is not medical advice and it does not replace a diagnosis. Nail changes can be the first visible sign of thyroid disease, anaemia, psoriasis or infection — if something looks wrong and will not resolve, get it looked at in person.
